    EMC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

     
    Four scholarships, worth $1,000 each, will be awarded to local students this spring. The Altamaha EMC Foundation Scholarships were founded in an effort to help local students further their education.

    The scholarships are funded by members' doantions through Operation Round Up. Applicants must be a member of Altamaha EMC.

    Applications are available by clicking the link at the bottom of this page. You can also request an application from any of our four office locations. The deadline to submit an application is February 28, 2025.

    Scholarships will be awarded based on academic ability and financial need. Winners will be announced in May each year.

    REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

    A. Acceptance letter or other evidence to confirm admission to a GEORGIA college or technical college. If student is not yet accepted, this information will be required at the time the scholarship is awarded.

    B. Two-page autobiographical sketch with reference to future plans and goals as well as your involvement in the community.

    C. High school transcript.

    D. SAT or ACT score.

    E. Two letters of recommendation.

     

    CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2025 WINNERS!

    Five local high school seniors were recently awarded scholarships through the Altamaha EMC Foundation.

    These scholarships are funded through Altamaha EMC's Operation Round Up program. Each year, the Foundation awards two scholarships worth $1,000 each to students planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college in Georgia and two scholarships also worth $1,000 each to students planning to further their education at one of Georgia's technical colleges.

    A senior at Swainsboro High School, Yadira is the daughter of Mayra Yepe Hernandez. She's a STAR Honor Roll student and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. Yadira is also active in the Spanish Club, 21st Century Leaders Club, and spent two years performing with the marching band. This fall, she'll be attending Valdosta State University to pursue a career in optometry.


    Aiden is a senior at Vidalia High School and the son of Jason and Elizabeth Harvill. He's been a member of the National Honor Society for four years and is also involved in Beta Club The Sound Tribe, Jazz Band, and Concert Band. Aiden participated in Greater Vidalia Youth Leadership and will attend Mercer University in the fall to pursue a career as a primary care physician. He will also represent Altamaha EMC this summer as one of our delegates on the Washington Youth Tour.


    Jaxson, a senior at West Laurens High School, is the son of Lecresicia Marion. He's a member of Beta Club, FBLA, Dublin-Laurens Youth Leadership, the NAACP Youth Council, and Teen Court, and also played on the football team. Jaxson plans to attend Kennesaw State University to study computer science and become a computer engineer.


    Jessica is a senior at East Laurens High School and the daughter of Araceli Leonardo. She's a member of Beta Club, TSA, and serves as President of the Book Club. As part of her work-based learning course, she also works in the school media center. Jessica plans to attend Oconee Fall Line Technical College to study Radiology, with hopes of becoming an MRI technician.


    Clayton is a senior at David Emanuel Academy and the son of Clay and Allison Hood. He serves as Senior Class Vice President, is on the Citizens Bank Advisory Board, and has played football, baseball, basketball, and track. He's also a dual enrollment student with Southeastern Technical College and East Georgia State College. Clayton plans to pursue a career in veterinary medicine at the University of Georgia this fall.
