    EMC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

     
    Four scholarships, worth $1,000 each, will be awarded to local students this spring. The Altamaha EMC Foundation Scholarships were founded in an effort to help local students further their education.

    The scholarships are funded by members' doantions through Operation Round Up. Applicants must be a member of Altamaha EMC.

    Applications are available by clicking the link at the bottom of this page. You can also request an application from any of our four office locations. The deadline to submit an application is February 28, 2025.

    Scholarships will be awarded based on academic ability and financial need. Winners will be announced in May each year.

    REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

    A. Acceptance letter or other evidence to confirm admission to a GEORGIA college or technical college. If student is not yet accepted, this information will be required at the time the scholarship is awarded.

    B. Two-page autobiographical sketch with reference to future plans and goals as well as your involvement in the community.

    C. High school transcript.

    D. SAT or ACT score.

    E. Two letters of recommendation.

     

    CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2024 WINNERS!

    Five local high school seniors were recently awarded scholarships through the Altamaha EMC Foundation.

    These scholarships are funded through Altamaha EMC's Operation Round Up program. Each year, the Foundation awards two scholarships worth $1,000 each to students planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college in Georgia and two scholarships also worth $1,000 each to students planning to further their education at one of Georgia's technical colleges.


    The 2024 scholarship winners are: Alexis Head of Vidalia High School, Allie Grace Johnson of East Laurens High School, Bralie Carey of Vidalia High School, RJ Florez of Toombs County High School, and Kason Palmer of Swainsboro High School.

    Alexis Head, a senior at Vidalia High School, excels in academics, athletics, and leadership. She's an active member of cheerleading and soccer teams, and deeply involved in clubs like Beta Club, NHS, TSA, and HOSA. Alexis is passionate about pursuing a degree in Exercise Science at Georgia College and State University, aiming to become an Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapist.


    Allie Grace Johnson, a senior at East Laurens High School, excels in academics and community leadership. She's been actively involved in Beta Club, Interact, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Skills USA, receiving the 2023 Distinguished Young Woman of Dublin award. Allie's talent extends to the softball field. She'll be majoring in Biology at University of Georgia, with aspirations for medical school and specializing in pediatric surgery.


    Bralie Carey, a senior at Vidalia High School, excels in academics, athletics, and leadership. She's actively involved in Beta Club, FBLA, HOSA, Political Science Club, and Student Government, showcasing her dedication to excellence. Bralie's talents extend to softball, basketball, and golf. She represented her community as a Washington Youth Tour delegate in 2023. Bralie will pursue her passion for medicine at the University of Georgia, aiming to become an Oncologist.


    Raymond "RJ" Florez, a senior at Toombs County High School, excels in academics and extracurriculars. He's actively involved in FFA, Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America, 4-H, and the Student Advisory Council, demonstrating leadership within these organizations. RJ also contributes to the athletic realm as a member of the tennis team and the Friday night football game mascot. In addition, he represented his community as a 2023 Washington Youth Tour delegate. In the fall, RJ plans to attend the University of Georgia to pursue a law degree with a focus on corporate and real estate law.


    Kason Palmer, a senior at Swainsboro High School, excels in academics and athletics. He's been a dedicated member of the football and baseball teams while actively participating in FFA and serving on the Citizen Bank Student Advisory Board. Kason's commitment to excellence earned him the Georgia Certificate of Merit. In the fall, he'll pursue his passion for diesel mechanics at Southeastern Technical College.
